Electronic Cigarettes

… but it’s so cool!
Electronic cigarettes becoming popular in the UK. So popular it’s pissing off the W.H.O. Pubs are now selling them to customers. Seems they want to keep the customers inside, instead of outside with their fags.
The W.H.O. complains that it has not been tested. As always the the “world government” demands you bow down before it. [NOTE: some manufacturers were claiming the WHO had endorsed their product, they clearly have not]
However, campaigners including the World Health Organisation, have raised concerns, pointing out there was a lack of knowledge about the products.
Who tested the W.H.O. for competence or safety before allowing them to try and run our lives? No one.
[Director of who's Tobacco Free Initiative] Dr. [Douglas] Bettcher says there is no scientific evidence to confirm that the electronic cigarette is safe and effective.
Typical F.U.D. by the W.H.O. Marxists. Just be honest. The company has not paid the ’shake down’ money, yet.
It also allows you to smoke where smoking is illegal as it does not burn tobacco. The device emits a mist that is laced with Nicotine. I have to wonder if the mist that is breathed out, contains nicotine?
The device is made of stainless steel, has a chamber for storing liquid nicotine in various concentrations, is powered by a rechargeable battery and resembles a real cigarette.
Users puff on it as they would a real cigarette, but they do not light it, and it produces no smoke. Instead, it produces a fine, heated mist, which is absorbed into the lungs.
Some outlets are claiming health benefits, and that of course is a no-no. After a hand slap, they stopped.
[Director of who's Tobacco Free Initiative, Douglas ] Bettcher says WHO has sent a cease and desist letter to specific manufacturers of the electronic cigarette to tell them to remove who’s name and logo from any of their marketing material.
Gee, a China-based company doing bad things. Shocking.
And Deborah Arnott, of anti-smoking group Ash, pointed out that many of the products were made in China where quality control was “not very good”.
Now that is a good reason to not use it. Most likely it’s lined with lead.
Until we stop taxing our companies to death, regulating them into oblivion (attention W.H.O. and “world government” types), and encourage new business; China is going to be the choice for sourcing many products.
The product started in Taiwan and has been sold into countries that seem to have little regulation. Of course the liberal/left/labour/WHO whiners will claim this is nothing but a way to skirt the safety regs of the “civilized” countries, without proof of course. I think it’s an example of a company getting it’s product into the hands of the people who need it. If you want to erect barriers, people and companies will find a way around them, like moving production to China.
Other Items of Note
- Mentally ill smoke 4 times as much than “average” smoker.
- epuffer - the “original” electronic cig
- “eco friendly” says smokingeverywhere
- Gamucci - maker of e-cigs — is it just me or is everyone in that flash site a stereotype? Would a yuppie smoke the same cig as a ’street walker,’ I think not. They do, however.
- Reuters — helps you stub out the habit
- VOA — WHO says, no it doesn’t — how would they know, they have not tested them?
