Google Creates New Browser

They say it will set the world on fire. Hmm, not so much.
Google Chrome is available here.
It’s essentially a FireFox addon, a chrome addon. It’s slick, but I am not impressed. It reminds me of IE7 crossed w/Safari. It seems to use a lot of AJAX type code to make it appear faster than it is.
It seems robotic. It seems to be a me-too, just web two-ohish. Neither of which inspire me, however there are some geeked up yobs getting all excited over it because they think it’s the thing to do and they want to be first adopters. Politicians do this as well, only it’s called ‘getting out in front of the parade.’
I am also not very trusting of Google, their motives seem to be more Microsoft-esque, than “do no harm” -ish.
It is not as fast as Opera. I also don’t see it causing a migration away from local apps, as they claim it will.
Some others are not so impressed either. My favorite article is the one that agrees with me: is there anything original in “Chrome?” The answer is no.
