Is the Left about to eat it’s own?
Aug 25th, 2008 by Mark
So I was reading Roger Blacks blog — he is a design guy — and he pondered if the NYT is unconsciously endorsing Obama by using a B/W pic reminiscent of the 60s.
He then compared this to the pics of Kennedy when he was running. It’s nice to see a liberal, wake up … sorta. So I let it go. I then start clicking on his blog roll and low and behold, what do we have? Mother Jones is ‘attacking’ the Obama for his attempts to portray his candidacy as equal to the Civil Rights Movement, the Civil War, and the founding of America.
You are no MLK!
It’s a funny thing about the left, they are very touchy about their “legacy.” They are such blowhards on their “accomplishments” of the 60s, that they tend to be short sighted when it comes to expediency. What I mean is, they don’t like interlopers like Obama getting credit for their “deeds” real or imagined. Mostly imagined.
Take for instance this piece in Mother Jones — yes I know you all have subscriptions, bear with me — about Barack Hussein Obama and his — as they say — “The Audacity of Hype?”
NEWS: Is Barack Obama exaggerating when he compares his campaign to the great progressive moments in US history?
“NEWS”? Please, get real. It’s a question, and one that is minor compared to his other over-top boasts.
We [Mother Jones Magazine] asked Pat Buchanan, Naomi Klein, and 18 other thinkers that question; read their responses below.
Who the hell is Naomi Klein? Is this the best you can do for “great thinkers?” Ok, they are at least asking the question. The question of course is why?
What could possibly posses them to question their candidate’s motives or actions — oh get real, they are not going to vote for Vader — and put his candidacy in jeopardy. Unless, of course he committed the ultimate in liberal sins: claiming credit for ’sacred work.’ Like claiming you parents conceived you due to a march that happen 5 years after you were born — he did, but few outlets are covering it — or claiming your candidacy is equal to the civil rights “struggle” of the 60s. ‘Oh! no you didn’t grrrlfrnnd!’ Oh yes he did.
And that is the rub. They don’t care that he is an empty suit; all style and no substance. They are upset that he is claiming their mantle. The pomposity of the responses is hysterically funny.
It’s funny that the left doesn’t get upset about him comparing his candidacy to the founding Fathers and their actions. Very telling.
Don’t mess with my dream!
Even more telling is this attempt at debunking the Mother Jones article. It’s written by some J-School person named Jay Rosen, who is — surprise! surprise! surprise! — connected with Poynter and appears to be very liberal — shocking! I know — . Oy Vey! For those who don’t know; Poynter is a Journalism community/trainer/think-tank that is routinely wrong. Usually very wrong, when they are not decades behind.
BO sued by liberal
Yep a liberal — and attorney — is suing BO saying he lied on his Attorney filing in Illinois — a felony, I believe — by not listing his other names. “Barry Soetero” is the name that is given as having been left off.
This lefty is also having the birth certificate examined, by a fraud expert. The expert says the Birth certificate is a forgery. Oh and the oh so tolerant left has slashed the tires of this man, put a dead animal — thought they loved animals — on his porch, and been harassed by BO supporters. Speaks volumes about BO, doesn’t it? Yes it does. Why is the “tolerant” left, always so intolerant?
