The Right Attacks Drudge
Feb 29th, 2008 by Mark
These people just don’t get it. Several readers of Michelle Malkin’s site are just plain clue-less. It amazes me how people who think they are experts in some arena — and are not —, can get so much coverage from respectable sources. [OK, granted the liberal media does the same thing, I suppose I should not be surprised by this] Lots of piling on at Michelle’s site, most of it wrong headed.
Wrong Headed Thinking
Jeff Quinton suffers from blog-opia. It is a form of myopic thinking. The reasoning goes like this: I am a blogger, I use an RSS reader, I don’t like Drudge: therefore Drudge has jumped the shark and is of no value. Yes, I know you logicians out there are going nuts.
It’s true, Drudge has, to a large extent, jumped the shark because of blogs and other Web 2.0 developments in how the news cycle works. He keeps becoming more and more like the mainstream media that he started out competing with. His antagonism towards blogs has been well-documented.
Mr Quinton is either angry at Drudge for some perceived wrong — he leaked the Prince Harry story, and is getting kudos from Brit newsies, a prophet is not welcome in his own home I believe — , he doesn’t like blogs, or he is jealous of the Drudge’s page-views. Maybe a combination.
If Drudge will post a story that potentially could have endangered Prince Harry and his mates in the British military, is it too far of a stretch to think he would not publish a story that could endanger American troops?
Unfortunately it’s poor thinking like this that is killing the Conservative Philosophy. How dare the Drudge Report, actually report news. OH MY GAWD!!! Unreal. You would think Drudge had given out GPS co-ordinates on the Prince.
I suppose some just need to be upset about something all the time. Just another blogger over-estimating his usefulness. As for Web 2.0, it’s complete bull-crap. You would think Conservatives would see through the communal b.s. of the lefty IT peeps, but oh no. We have to be cool. Sheesh.
More Finger Wagging
“Milblogger” Laughing Wolf is upset about it also.
A raised finger salute to the people who leaked it to Drudge, and to Matt Drudge for willfully endangering the Prince and those with him. May you and those who leaked it to you soon find yourself in an enclosed space with SAS and others who care to express their opinion in a very, very personal manner. No linky love to you, a*****e.
Nice childish attitude. Oh and for your information Mr “Milblogger” the Prince put himself in harm’s way, not Drudge.
It’s Drudge’s Fault Prince is Pulled
Oh bull-crap. That is an excuse. “New Idea” in Australia broke the story [google cache, since the site deleted the article]
Sky defence correspondent Geoff Meade said it could take at least 24 hours to bring him back to the UK.
He added: “There will be a degree of frustration - not least from the Prince himself - and anger.”
But he said that Harry had proved himself as a soldier and, with media support, future deployments to war zones would be possible.
Can you imagine if the Brits had acted like this during WWII? Would Teddy Roosevelt Jr have been respected for not going with his units during D-Day? Pffft. I am so disgusted with Michelle and her usual round of ‘me-too’ people.
What are the brits saying?
Not what the Americans are saying that is for sure. You see they value freedom of the press, because they don’t have it.
- BBC defends their acceptance of blackout — they kept quiet so they could get footage. story notes how speculation was rife in other media, long before Drudge found out.
- Daily Telegraph discusses the blackout

Some Brits think Drudge is a blogger, and has the attitude that bloggers are not newsies — what say you now Michelle?
Thank God for Channel 4 News, the only source of reliable TV news in GB, and thank God for critical journalists like Jon Snow. And God save us from Colonel Blimps, authoritarian politicians and other outraged antidemocrats!
Oh, and the next time Channel 4 executives are asked to partake in media censorship, would you please have the courage and integrity to say ‘no’.

Scourge of Washington, now of Palace — one Brit who gets it.
-
Thank God for Drudge — wonder if his mom washed out his mouth with soap?
-
Not all Media types are happy about this — discussion, don’t we love it
-
Check out the bad picture of John Snow — guess the mocking photos play there also.
As much as I dislike the BBC, it could be said they behaved like citizens, something American outlets should try to emulate. However they bargained for access to keep quiet. Hardly a noble action.
Other Media Coverage
It really irks me that some are upset that Drudge reported this. It’s just bizarre that some who want “blogs” to be legitimate are now attacking someone who is successful so they can get hits.
