CalTrans attacks Minutemen

CalTrans has forced the Minutemen to get a different adopt-a-highway area. The local media is crowing. NBC is ecstatic that the minutemen are moving .

NBC crowing that minutemen are being forced to move
More Gov, can fix Gov problems
First of all the adopt-a-highway program is just another example of the failure of government to do it’s job. Secondly why is it that the minutemen can’t work in the area they live in LIKE EVERYONE ELSE?
The Adopt-A-Highway Program is not a forum for advertising or public discourse.
Funny, I see many businesses doing exactly that. Why are the minutemen being singled out? Could it be this:
Caltrans district director Pedro Orso-Delgado said that while his agency had received numerous comments from the public about the group’s highway adoption, the agency’s decision was based chiefly on public safety concerns.
The Border Patrol Station is here:
The real reason they were moved
The real reason they were moved:
While he said the coalition supports freedom of speech, “we are happy that Caltrans is moving the Minuteman cleanup spot to an area that is a little less offensive,” Flores said.
Yep, Illegals win again.
How did they do it
The usual collection of hate groups went on the offensive:
That Caltrans had granted permission for the San Diego Minutemen to join its Adopt-A-Highway program prompted an outcry this month from local Latino groups, as well as national anti-bigotry organizations, such as the Anti-Defamation League, which considers the group extremist.
The ADL is considered extremist and a hate group by many. Don’t you like how they heap praise on the ADL? Nice “reporting” U-T. The Southern Poverty Law Center has it’s long knives out as well .
How sad that Whites can be targets of hate and that is ok; even laudable by the ACLU, SPL, NAACP. And they wonder why this country is divided along racial lines. It’s due to their pimping of the hatred for their own purposes.
“It’s good news for us,” said Bill Flores, a spokesman for a North County coalition known as El Grupo, upon learning of Caltrans’ decision. El Grupo comprises local chapters of organizations such as the League of United Latin American Citizens, the NAACP and the American Civil Liberties Union.
Oh look the usual collection of hate groups crowing over how they control our government through coercion and collusion.
The ADL spins like a top in this article.
“It seems to me that the immigration debate has become toxic,” said ADL spokesperson Morris Casuto.
Gee could that be because you have turned it that way? Yes it is.
It’s about safety … yea right
Just whose safety are you concerned about?
Are you telling me that Californians are so intolerant they will attack the Minutemen? Are you worried that the hate groups that support illegal immigration will attack them. Or are you just protecting the illegals who have no right to be here, should not be on the road in the first place (it’s an 8 lane highway for pete’s sake), and who seem to have more power than actual citizens? Or do you just hate Americans who respect the laws?
“I won’t deny that we’ve had a whole bunch of calls and e-mails, on both sides,” said Orso-Delgado, who directs Caltrans operations in San Diego and Imperial counties. “It basically creates a lightning rod. … Really, we don’t need that kind of issue on a freeway where we have so many cars traveling and there’s potential for having an accident or getting into a safety issue.”
You mean like having a useless checkpoint that does nothing but slow traffic, and cause traffic jams? If traffic jams and driver safety were really an issue; you would have removed the border checkpoint long ago. You would have removed advertising (like the adopt-a-highway program signs) as well. Total BS.
Or do you mean when the lllegals camp out on roadways and leave trash and filth which we have to clean up?
Or are you really concerned for the Minutemen, or is it their ideas you don’t like? Like when the hate groups come to protest the Minutemen, and the City Attorney and County DA go after the Minutemen?
Oh and it seems that the intolerance that CalTrans fears has not materialized:
Schwilk had said earlier yesterday that the group was preparing for a cleanup on a shoulder of I-5 this weekend, and that the group’s first cleanup this month had occurred without incident.
This is from a fact sheet about the program.
The Adopt A Highway program is an educational and worthwhile program that provides companies, small business, private or public organizations the opportunity to contribute in cleaning up and beautifying California. You can clean-up and beautify a stretch of California highway with the cooperation of Caltrans and a minimum of red tape. This is a great way to promote civic responsibility, community pride and camaraderie among your organization.
As long as it’s not Patriotic and/or offensive to groups hostile to the United States.
Why did it take so long?
Here is a story from last year about how the Minutemen were getting the section of highway. If it is such a big deal then why only now are they complaining?
Oh this is interesting
California Transportation Department spokesman Edward Cartagena said the Minutemen got the stretch of I-5 near the Border Patrol checkpoint purely by chance and that the group’s application did not violate any rules.
Why would they think it violated some rules? Could it be that this hate group leader was making noise?
Enrique Morones, president of the immigrant-rights group Border Angels, called the Minutemen’s move a publicity ploy.
Mr. Morones has never been guilty of that, have you ese?
“They’re desperate to get attention, even if it means sweeping the freeway,” he said.
Must be one of those jobs that only Mexicans will take.
If a Hispanic group had been forced to move, it would not be tolerated. It would be called racism.
