Midday Update
Oct 23rd, 2007 by Mark
The sun is out, and the wind is starting to blow away the ashes. Still, 1300 Homes destroyed, many more damaged; 250,000 plus acres burned. No doubt this number will grow over the next few days.
The Harris fire is now threatening Chula Vista (southeast of San Diego) in the Jamul area. Most all of it is new development.
Harmony Grove is being evacuated. Poway is reopening, some of it. Del Mar Heights is open as well.
CAL ISO has declared a transmission emergency. Due to the power lines being tripped to due temps and usage, many high-voltage (transmission) are now offline. [I have no doubt that Sempra (aka PG&E) will use this to push for their pet project of a new transmission line].
Evacuation centers are filing up in the North County and Orange County. Hotel rooms are almost non-existent. San Clemente park is overcrowded. El Toro High School still appears to be open.
Hwy 76 is closed, so don’t even try it. I15 is closed from the 78 to 79. I8 in the Alpine area is closed.

found this on the OES sight — map of the current fires in California
Here is a list of useful phone numbers for info on the fire:

Hope this helps.
Google Maps
I am trying to find as many maps as I can, and will link them here. Unfortunately I can only link to them. I am unable to post them on this host. Knew I should have moved servers last week.
