Hello-

I’m also visiting from Michelle’s site. I, too, am in Oceanside (near Mission San Luis Rey) and I tell you this is worse than the 2003 Cedar Fire, which at the time was the worst fire in Ca history (so I’ve heard). We are hosting some evacuees (family friends) from Rancho Bernardo. We still don’t know if their house is OK. My heart goes out to all who have lost property.

I hear you Stacman. I took several pics this morning, but they were unusable, as the ash was making all but impossible to get an image. I am not even close to a fire yet.

Well, I live in Rancho Bernardo, and while a blog following it is good, the pictures from that far away don’t even begin to capture the true scene.

I’m in Point Loma. It looks like another planet down here, with blue skies but it still smells like a campfire outside and there’s a thin layer of dust/ashes on stuff.

Hey Mark,
I grew up in Oceanside. Moved there in 65 and left in 87. In North Carolina now. Praying for you and all the people affected by these fires. I went through one in 69 and didn’t think I was going to make it out alive. Hamg in there and keep posting the pic.s. Funny, even through the ash it still reminds me of the good times on O’side pier.
