Apologize for what?
Oct 19th, 2007 by Mark
This turns my stomach.
Here is the Toronto Star’s (well known America hater) take on it.
WASHINGTON–Republicans joined with Democrats yesterday to offer Maher Arar something he has never received from the Bush administration – an apology for the U.S. role in wrongly detaining him, then sending him to Syria where he was tortured.
ALLEGED to have been tortured. And we don’t owe him an apology.
“There is nothing there,” said New York Democrat Jerrold Nadler.
“There is nothing there to justify the continuation of this campaign of vilification against you or to deny you entry into this country.”
How would you know? Oh wait you are a NY Democrat so facts, don’t matter.
“This was a kidnapping,” he said. (Nadler the Syrian believed to be an Extremist)
What I find odd, is why the Syrians would torture their own. He is a native of Syria, and lives in Canada; a country well known for it’s open borders policy for extremists. Yet no one is questioning why they would torture someone who would be fighting for them. I can hear it now, that proves he is innocent. No it just proves his story has holes in it. He knows he can use the Syrians as bad guys and get away with it.
Still remains, the Canadians fault and liberals are out to embarrass the U.S. They don’t care about security or right/wrong.
In Arar’s case, U.S. authorities, acting on flawed Canadian intelligence, detained him at New York’s JFK Airport in September 2002, then flew him to Syria via Jordan without Ottawa’s knowledge.
WTF are these idiots thinking. We don’t owe him an apology. FFS. Why the hell would we tell Canada anything? So they can leak the info? Screw that.
Where is the outrage at Syria? Oh yeah, he can’t get any money from them. My guess is that he won’t get any parades, air time, groupies, apologies, book deals, articles published, or an entourage of ass kissers there either.
The Globe and Mail sorta gets it: How Canada failed citizen Maher Arar.
Liberals don’t care.

An investigation of the ‘charges’ was made. Nothing was found. The matter of faulty Canadian information only blew up because shit-for-brains thought they’d make a name for themselves. They did.
It’s still considered impolite to detain and torture the neighbours. Since you don’t agree, I’ll be happy to stay away. You can see when the same consideration is not returned people tend to get creative in dealing with the problem.
Well opit, when we start detaining GOOD Canadians, and torturing — anyone — then you can be worried. Put your hate away and get a clue.
“Same Consideration”? is that a threat? You gonna whoop our azzz now! Please. The only countries stupid enough to torture Americans are already on the hit list. Only fools would go there.
Second, I doubt Canada — even with new prime minister will ever have the guts to stand up for it’s self much less actually take a stand and fight terrorism. Too busy worrying about their feelings.
Even if this guy was wrongly sent over, tortured, and wronged: oh well, I am not giving up my security because of one mistake. That’s Canadian/liberal thinking. It also works only for the bad guys advantage. But hey, it makes the weaklings feel good.
As for the settlement, FFS. He can’t prove he was tortured, and as for being “wrongly” accused, well that is still up for debate. Yea I know the Canadians folded like a house of cards and said he was a good guy; but can we really trust the Candians on this? They still harbor fugitives from the American Military. Even with the new Prime Minister; it’s still Berkeley of the North.
Maybe someday you guys will wake up and smell the coffee.
