San Diego Security

… or why we are so screwed security-wise.
On the way to the airport last night, my friend receives a call saying her flight has been cancelled. She calls the airline to find out the deal. After 30 minutes she gets a hold of someone in Bombay or Jakarta, not sure which. She is told that she can reschedule within 7 days and not get charged a change fee. She asks what would happen if she cancels her flights. The operator asks “Even the one on the 19th?” My friend looks at me like ‘wtf’. She responds to the question: “Yes the 19th flight as well. Since if I don’t go there is no need to come back.” Geez
Anyway I checked my phone for delays. Seems the weather in Philly sucked and grounded plans. However this A.M. I find that Ooops! the rocket scientists manning the scanning stations forgot to turn on the scanners. Nice. So they shut down the airport and clogged the system up.
Security Breach Briefly Shuts Down Lindbergh
Excuse me?
Around 10 p.m., San Diego Harbor Police said they noticed an alarm at a checkpoint may not have been working properly.
Word was they were not turned on. Why did the Harbor police see this and not the scanner people?
Many departing flights were delayed and those aboard planes that had just arrived were kept on the tarmac for several hours.
Airport security operations began to normalize just after midnight.
The media; so wrong, so often.
No one else has anything in print. KUSI did cover it a bit this am. It was “a small” incident. Yeaaa riiiiiight.
Good job Aces!
