Chavez thugs, no complaints from lefty media
Second Venezuela TV is under fire by Chavez
The liberal outlets are still not picking up this news about Chavez and his anti-free press initiative. Guess they really don’t care about freedom of the press.
This is how nuts the Chavez regime is:
The government was also suing the US station CNN for allegedly linking Mr Chavez to al-Qaeda, Mr Lara said.
“CNN broadcast a lie which linked President Chavez to violence and murder,” he said.
That is just funny. CNN attacking a liberal err dictator. That’s rich.
-
Thousands protest TV shutdown – USA Today a little late.
-
Venezuelans Protest – SJ Merc news late to the party.
Guess who is NOT speaking out on this issue? NYT, Chicago Trib, LAT, and the rest of the liberal press.
Wow! a liberal speaks, but he is alone.
Chávez intends to pull the plug on the country’s oldest and most popular station, Radio Caracas TV (RCTV), a source of radio programming for 76 years and television for 53. Chávez has refused to let the station renew its license, which expires on Sunday.
The roster of critics of this impending move grows daily. So far, we have heard from the Secretary General of the OAS, the Inter-American Press Association, the National Association of Newspapers of Brazil, Reporters without Borders, The Committee to Protect Journalists and no less than the Congress of Chile.
The Inter-American Human Rights Commission has objected as well, and it has been criticizing the gradual collapse of free expression in Venezuela since 1998.
No large media outlets are upset. Guess they don’t really care about freedom of the press for anyone but themselves.
If they speak out against Chavez they then look foolish about what they say against Bush.
UPDATE:
- Daily Kos-ma-naughts are supporting Chavez – Blame Bush and U.S.
- it’s Fox’s fault – if only they would stop lying about Chavez!
- *rotflmao* now they are taking polls to decide what to think – Is Bill Clinton running the show over there?
