The Flying Lawsuits err Imams

The “flying Imams” who were claiming they were being discriminated against because of their religion have stirred up a hornet’s nest. It is clear they were out to bilk money out of the airline, and possibly cause airlines to not scrutinize terrorists, err Muslims behaving badly.
Now they are trying to silence those who spoke out by suing them [LINK]. Seems that terrorist assimilate nicely into society, how come Mexicans can’t do the same?
Anyway they are suing “John Doe”. Powerline [LINK] suggested last week that this give rise to a new “John Doe” movement.
Two attorney’s in the area have agreed to represent the “John Does” pro bono. Powerline is thinking of raising money by selling gear [LINK].
The Beckett Fund seems to take issue with the Imams lawsuit. [link to PDF letter]. The Beckett Fund also let CAIR [link] — known terrorist sympathizer — how they feel about them [link to PDF]. CAIR is the hyperbolic hate machine that says the Imams were “flying while Muslim” [link to article]. This is the same group who is urging Muslims to file lawsuits at the drop of a hat [link]
The Beckett Fund says:
In a stinging open letter to Mr. Awad [of CAIR], Becket Fund president Kevin J. Hasson denounced the targeting of private citizens as far outside the scope of legitimate civil rights test cases.
That’s because it’s NOT a legitimate Civil Rights case. It’s a an attack on safety — of our country and airline passengers — , and an attempt to ‘get rich quick’. Sick.
The flying Imams were engaged in a conspiracy. They behaved like terrorists to elicit a reaction so they could sue [link].
“I never felt bad in my life like that. I never. Six imams. Six leaders in this country. Six scholars in handcuffs. It’s terrible.”
So spoke Imam Omar Shahin, director of the Islamic Center of Tucson, after he and five other imams were removed from a Phoenix-bound US Airways flight at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. What were they doing to get removed from the flight? “We did nothing,” Shahin maintains – and the Council on American Islamic Relations has seized on the incident as evidence of American “Islamophobia.” “We are concerned that crew members, passengers and security personnel may have succumbed to fear and prejudice based on stereotyping of Muslims and Islam,” said CAIR’s executive director, Nihad Awad.
However, there were indications that this was not a straightforward case of prejudice and profiling. Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport official Patrick Hogan said that “there were a number of things that gave the flight crew pause” about the imams: some of them had made anti-American statements before boarding the plane, and some asked for seat belt extensions despite not appearing to need them. There was also an inconsistency in the accounts of the incident by Shahin himself: initial reports held that the men had been removed from the plane after ostentatiously standing and praying Islamic evening prayers; however, according to Associated Press, “Shahin said Tuesday that three members of the group prayed in the terminal before the six boarded the plane, although on Monday night he said they had prayed on the plane.”
The reason? So CAIR could be the next NAACP. Seems to me that some are upset they are not getting their ‘fair share.’ It could also be a way to show real terrorists — the Imams have links to terrorists organizations — how to fight the restrictions on flight.
Seems to me this incident just proves you can’t trust Muslims [LINK].
