Las Vegas Strip Shooting
Jul 5th, 2006 by Mark
I generally give the police the ‘benefit of the doubt’, but on this one I have to question the actions of these officers.
After watching the video I have a few questions. Was anyone in the line of the vehicle (some areas on the strip have bollards to protect the sidewalks)? Was there no other way to disable the suspect or his vehicle?
If you watch the video, it appears to be a gross overstatement of facts by Metro. In the video the Metro says the air-bag deployed. Could this be what caused the officers to shoot? How was the man using the car as a weapon, he was fleeing?
Metro has never been a “bad” ‘cop shop’ — not a good one either —, however it appears that things may be changing for the worse. This is the 18th deadly force incident by Metro this year.
Violent crime is up in Vegas and the surrounding areas.
