Stupidity and Arrogance, Requirements To Attend UW
Feb 26th, 2006 by Mark
Yes, it appears that being an idiot and uneducated are requirements to attend the University of Washington. As you read this consider that Boeing (builder of “war machines”) has a very large presence in Washington state.
The student senate voted down on Feb 7 a memorial to famed Marine Pilot and Congressional Medal of Honor winner, Gregory “Pappy” Boyington. Why you might ask? Well seems … I will let them tell you themselves.
Student Senator Jill Edwards said:
Distinguished (from the transcript, NOT my characterization) Senator Jill Edwards questions “whether it was appropriate to honor a person who killed other people.”
“didn’t believe a member of the Marine Corps was an example of the sort of person UW wanted to produce.
No doubt she would prefer Fidel Castro?
Anyone else notice they refer to themselves as “Distinguished”? Unbelievable. Just what or how has she distinguished herself? Going to college? So did Boyington. Graduating? Not yet, Boyington did. Protecting our country? Nope, but Boyington did. So Jilly, just what qualifies you to even sit on the Senate at UW? Big “assets”? Cute Smile? Popularity?
Student Senator Ashley Miller then went on to prove how intelligent UW students are by concluding this:
Another distinguished Senator, Ashley Miller said: “many monuments at UW already commemorate rich white men.”
‘Pappy’ Boyington was a Sioux Indian, and worked his way through school with the help of his struggling MOTHER (yes single parent). And I ask Ashley, what have you done to be called distinguished?
A little about the man not good enough for UW.
His mother helped him through school by working as a switch board operator in Tacoma, Wash. To pick up the rest of the financial slack he had to work all his spare hours at various jobs. During the summers he worked in a gold mine in Idaho, his home state.
If the work was a burden, Greg didn’t show it. He realized that his university education was a privilege and he took full advantage of it. He signed up for ROTC, made the university wrestling and swimming teams, joined a fraternity and graduated four years later (1934) with a degree in aeronautical engineering.
Note the attitude difference. Todays spoiled brats think they are owed an education, and they don’t have to earn it.
Student Senator (no doubt also distinguished) Karl Smith extended and revised the lunacy with this:
(Boyington) “was credited with destroying 26 enemy aircraft, tying the record for most aircraft destroyed by a pilot in American Uniform,”
(He received the Navy Cross and CMOH for this, BTW.)
Smith, according to the minutes, said “the resolution should commend Colonel Boyington’s service, not his killing of others.”
“a destroyed aircraft was not necessarily indicative that a pilot had died.”
Yes, if only war could be fought on a chess board, Monopoly board, or in a text book from the safety of dorm room. How sweet the world would be then.
Fortunately there are some people with a clue, such as Brent Ludeman of the UW College Republicans.
“Pappy Boyington went beyond the call of duty to serve and protect this country – he simply deserves better,” Ludeman said. “Just last year, the university erected a memorial to diversity. Why can’t we do the same for Pappy Boyington and others who have defended our country?”
As well as radio host Kirby Wilbur and audience, the editorial page at the Charleston Daily Mail.
I am surprised that no one made a mention of ‘Pappy’ Boyington spending 20 months in a Japanese Prison Camp. They could have made the obligatory reference to Abu Ghraib, and how ‘he deserved it’.
Right on cue the liberal Seattle Times chimes in with a defense of the idiots and their arrogance.
Forgive the University of Washington student senate, for they know not what they’ve done.
The senate’s recent decision to reject a proposal to create a campus memorial to alumnus and World War II hero Gregory “Pappy” Boyington was simply an act of youth.
No, they knew exactly what they ‘have done’. They hate America and wanted to show it. Only in Seattle or San Francisco would this be defended.
Which the Times then goes on to prove.
This kind of political correctness and self-righteousness from a generation that has enjoyed some of our country’s most peaceful and prosperous times is truly maddening.
No it is reflective of the failed liberal ideology that drives our schools and indoctrinates our kids.
Maybe there is hope for the idiots at UW?
Some student veterans at UW entered a resolution that says:
WHEREAS Student Senator Jill Edwards offended all members of the United States Marine Corps, past or present, dead or alive; especially those who were, are, or will be students at the University of Washington with her comment that she “didn’t believe a member of the Marine Corps was an example of the sort of person UW wanted to produce.” This commented brought shame and dishonor to not only the UW Student Senate, but also the University as a whole, all its members who have served in the Marine Corps and all Marines past and present.
Hear, hear!
Maybe she is getting the point?
(Student Senator Jill) Edwards had a few things of her own to post on a UW page: “I talked more than I ever have before and realized exactly why I never talk. I am thoroughly (sic) regretting opening (sic) my mouth.”
Then again maybe not. Talking too much is not your problem, honey. Your problem is being ignorant and arrogant.
I have to agree with those wanting to fund a scholarship for Boyington at UW. It would mean that his legacy would forever be there, and people like the Senators would forever be shamed by their idiocy. The only objection I can see, is they would have to attend UW.
The Senate, living in their cocoon of stupidity are now feeling the sting of responsibility. Never having to justify their words/actions/deeds or having much in the way of responsibility they are now learning a painful lesson. A lesson their parents should have taught them.
After rejecting a memorial to Marine Corps fighter ace Gregory “Pappy” Boyington, a University of Washington alumnus — and feeling the sting of talk radio, television commentators and the e-mail-sending public — UW students may now back a tribute to all former students who have received the Medal of Honor.
Typical “tough guys”, they back down when someone talks back to them. Yes, ladies and gentleman actions and words have consequences.
Maybe next time they will get the facts and not just parrot the liberal clap trap they have been fed like pablum all these years? Maybe the sheep will now wake up and start to think and learn? Yea right.
