A joyride turned deadly over the weekend when a teenager took his family’s car on a joyride, killing two of his friends.
The crash Monday evening killed 12-year old Samuel Paz and 14-year-old Alfonso Huerta. Both boys were from Fallbrook, an area about 40 miles north of San Diego.
Two other passengers, ages 14 and 16, were hospitalized. Their names also were not released.
The driver, who is unlicensed, had taken his parents’ car without permission and was joyriding when he lost control of the car and slammed into an oak tree, Kerns said.
He said the car was traveling at a high rate of speed, but could not provide specifics. All the boys were wearing seat belts, according to the accident report.
The 15 year old scum-bag who was driving is under arrest and being held on “Vehicular Manslaughter” and “Driving without a License” charges.
