Is Woodward Hidiing Something?
Nov 16th, 2005 by Mark
What did he know? When did he know it?
Mr Woodward said that the official, whom he refused to name in public but identified to Mr Fitzgerald, was not Mr Libby. Nor was it Andrew Card, the White House chief of staff, named today in the The Washington Post as another senior source Mr Woodward met in June 2003 to interview for a book on Iraq.
How ironic that the man who has been the icon for attacking secrecy and power abuse, is now secretive and abusing power.
The disclosure of Mr Woodward’s involvement in the case caused astonishment at the The Washington Post which admitted that its star reporter had been wrong to keep his insights on such a big national story to himself.
Oh what a tangled web we weave…
WASHINGTON — Washington Post editor Bob Woodward tried to fend off criticism Wednesday over revelations that he didn’t reveal to his bosses that a top Bush administration official had told him the name of a CIA operative.
Is Bob Woodward trying to destroy the Bush Administration? It is clear that he is an antagonist to the Bush Admin, but would he be so shallow as to remain silent and allow an innocent man to be persecuted? Would he allow his paper to become a laughingstock in order to sell more books, and not have to exonerate a Bushy.
Woodward’s evidence appears to alter the timeline in the case. In the indictment Mr Fitzgerald said Mr Libby was the first government employee to reveal Ms Plame’s identity, as he discussed her position with Judith Miller, the former New York Times reporter jailed for refusing to reveal her source, on June 23 2003.
The new revelations suggest another White House official told a reporter about Ms Plame first.
Woodward said that for interviews conducted for his book on Iraq, he had obtained confidentiality waivers from three sources, one of whom was Mr Libby.
Is Woodward more concerned with his book sales or journalistic ethics — you know, the truth — or is he worried about going to jail? Did he see a chance to hurt Bush and those around him by keeping quiet?
Woodward said he apologized to Post Executive Editor Leonard Downie Jr. for not telling him until last month that he had learned about Valerie Plame and her work at the CIA more than two years ago.
Where’s the apology to “Scooter” Libby?
He said he had been working on a book, “Plan of Attack,” about the administration’s decision to go to war in Iraq, and he did not want to be subpoenaed by a special prosecutor investigating the leak of Plame’s name.
Woodward has been criticized on numerous occasions for his less than honest approach to journalism. He routinely keeps facts and ‘juicy tidbits’ out of the Washington Post in order to put them in his books. Books which he then writes about in the Washington Post (WaPo) to drum up sales.
They then wonder why no one trusts them. Duh!
“I hunkered down more than I usually do,” Woodward said.
Bull! This is typical for Bob Woodward, and WaPo.
Woodward said his Bush administration source recently asked him to answer questions posed by Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald. The source has refused to be identified publicly, Woodward said
What? Why isn’t the “Special Prosecutor” on top of this? Why is Bob Woodward so special he can thumb his nose at the law?
Downie said Wednesday on CNN’s “The Situation Room”: “Bob has acknowledged today that he made a mistake in not telling me about it sooner. He’s apologized to me and to the newspaper. And we’re going to move along from here now and work on other reporting of his in the future.”
Of course you are. You can’t fire him. Icons don’t get fired, they resign. They are thrown lavish parties, and praised like gods. (see Dan Rather). The media will never admit, until forced to do so that they are biased and hypocritical.
“When all of the story is told, it will be clear that I’ve just been an aggressive reporter,” he said. “We can’t tell the whole story. I would like to. It will be told someday.”
Hog-wash. It will show that like most media types you are hypocritical, vindictive, biased, and a sham. You talk a good game, but when it comes down to it; you don’t like to play by the rules you routinely vilify others for breaking.
With declining readership, you would think that would have already figured this out. However like all ‘powers’, they cling to their old ways to the bitter end. How ironic it is that the people who said “you must change with the times”, won’t and can’t. History, it repeats with regularity and makes fools of those who refuse to learn from it.

An apology is not enough. Time to clean house. You just can not trust the MSM anymore.
