Liberal Launtenberg Thinks Alito is O.K.
Oct 31st, 2005 by Mark
In 1990 very liberal Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) spoke of Alito in the most glowing terms. Let’s hope he decides to not be a partisan like Bob Beckell and the other looney lefties.
On April 27, 1990, the day Samuel Alito was confirmed by the Senate for his post as a federal appeals court justice, liberal Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D.-N.J.) [lifetime American Conservative Union rating: 6%] spoke in support of his nomination. I’ve pasted the transcript below from the Congressional Record.
Well that would be good news, or would it?
[aides to Lautenberg say] “Those comments were made 15 years ago, and now he has a record from the bench. And that record needs to be looked at and dissected. Sen. Lautenberg intends to do that along with his colleagues. At this time, that’s all I can say.”
The waffling begins. In other words, he has to get his marching orders from the DNC.
This was to be expected, and welcomed. It is.
