liberal Media On the March. - Big God vs Big Gov
Sep 27th, 2005 by Mark
The Times of London is doing exactly what I criticized early. Only telling half the story, and not questioning assumptions presented as facts.
According to the study, belief in and worship of God are not only unnecessary for a healthy society but may actually contribute to social problem
It compares the social peformance [SIC] of relatively secular countries, such as Britain, with the US, where the majority believes in a creator rather than the theory of evolution. Many conservative evangelicals in the US consider Darwinism to be a social evil, believing that it inspires atheism and amorality.
While you read the story, ask yourself these questions:
1. Is the U.S. really a Christian nation, or is it a secular society?
“The United States is almost always the most dysfunctional of the developing democracies, sometimes spectacularly so.”
2. Is Japan really not a Shinto society?
3. Aren’t liberals teaching sex-ed in school? (note teen pregnancy jumped the year it started).
4. Don’t Christians oppose this type of teaching? (answer: yes)
5. Is there a purely Christian nation on earth? (answer: no)
6. Why did the times take at face value the conclusions, or the underlying assumptions? (answer: they agree with the study)
7. Is Britain so much more secular than the U.S.? (answer: no)
8. What is this journal they speak of, and is it peer reviewed? (not that peer review will remove lefty bias, as most academics are libs)
Topics addressed include, for example: feminism in contemporary society; religion and the internet; political movements; religious education; liberation theology; and so on. (1)
9. Who is this “social scientist”? (I can find nothing on him, anyone have access to journals?)
Gregory Paul, the author of the study and a social scientist, used data from the International Social Survey Programme, Gallup and other research bodies to reach his conclusions.
10. Were his numbers recent? (violent crimes are down in the US, is he upset about this?)
11. Abortions are up, teen pregnancy is up, the ACLU (and Justice Ruth Bader-Ginsberg) believe that 12 year olds should be having sex. Christians oppose those, yet they are being forced down our throats. How does that fit with his premise or conclusion? (proves it wrong at worst, faulty at best)
Sounds like the usual lefty attacks using half-truths, and pretzel logic based upon dubious research and conclusions.
He compared social indicators such as murder rates, abortion, suicide and teenage pregnancy
Last time I checked Christians OPPOSED all those things; LIBERALS ARE FOR THEM. Hmm.
