Drill ANWR Now - redux
Sep 19th, 2005 by Mark
The usual collection of ‘special interests groups’ will ally themselves once again, tomorrow in D.C. The usual collection of co-dependent groups are coming together to ‘march on’ D.C. in opposition to Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR, commonly referred to as ANWaR — pronounced an’ wÃr) drilling.
Clearly attempting to spin their group as a army they issued a press release, which said:
“busloads of citizen lobbyists from across the U.S. and Canada” plan to join the protest, which will include a drum procession by Native Americans and “large crowds of citizens with signs.”
So what is their deal? They don’t want America to be independent of Mid-East oil, if not done their way. They are upset that drilling in Anwar, might actually happen. Granted some of the groups are merely engaged in a quid pro quo; many actually believe that drilling in ANWAR is evil (well if they believed in evil, that is what they would call it).
Top 10 Reasons to Drill
Arctic Oil Development State Impact (original North Shore Drilling)
My reason for supporting drilling in ANWR? It would keep our money here in the US. My second reason is only 8% of the refuge would be open to drilling. EIGHT PERCENT!
The map below should give you an idea of the small nature of the drilling area. Orange is ANWR, yellow is the drilling area that would be open. Seems a bit silly to say this would destroy wildlife in Alaska.

How sad it is, that many of these trouble-makers just don’t get it. They can’t deal with the fact that the 60’s are over. What I don’t get are the kids today. Are they being brain-washed to believe this stuff in schools? Since most schools are stocked with 60’s leftovers, must be what is happening. They must assume this is their renaissance.
